Singers Wanted!

Do you sing? Are you a cool dude? We want you to join the group! We’re looking for a couple of new guys to join the group this semester. All we need from you is a little bit of warmup, some sight reading, and some tonal memory. Finally, and most importantly, prepare to sing a solo for us of a popular song, current or past. If this sounds like something you’d like to do, click on over to http://www.acaspot.com/audition to sign up for a slot. See you at auditions!

An Intimate Evening with SympVibes

Join us, your favorite singing men, for a night you will never forget (at least until our next show). We have two shows on two nights, for double the enjoyment. Come Saturday (D.M. Smith), or Sunday (Old Architecture), or BOTH! Both shows are at 7:00 pm. Tickets are limited, so get them fast (like now) over at our store page or by finding us in the student center this week. Don’t miss out!

AUDITIONS 2K11, YO

It’s that time again, your chance to become a part of SympVibes! We are looking for a few good men to join the ranks and sing with us. We want guys who like to sing, but love to work. We hope you’re here looking for info on auditions, so here it is:

Auditions will be held on August 30th and 31st. Callbacks will be held Friday, September 2nd (early enough so as to not interfere with your Friday night plans of course).

The audition itself is pretty laid back. We’ll do a little warm-up, pitch matching, and sight reading (if you don’t know what these are, don’t stress! We’ll walk you through it) followed by a solo you have prepared for us. The solo will be sung a cappella (duh) and should be something along the lines of the popular music genre (i.e. not something from a musical or that you learned with your classical voice teacher). That’s it! We are fun lovin’ guys so don’t worry too much, we’ll make you feel comfortable (even though that sentence probably makes you uncomfortable).

So how do you sign up? Click on this little linky thing here and do what it tells you to: http://www.acaspot.com/audition?g=1

SympVibes Spring Concerts!

It’s everyone’s favorite time of the year again!  SympVibes will be having their end of semester concerts at 7pm Friday, April 22nd and Saturday, April 23rd in LeCraw Auditorium in the Management Building on campus.

It’s the time of the year where you get to celebrate the coming of summer with your favorite a cappella group, so come in your bathing suits with your cute umbrella drinks and get ready for the seductive (or ROCKIN if you are male) sounds of SympVibes. We will be joined by UGA Noteworthy on Friday and Emory’s Aural Pleasure on Saturday.

Tickets: $5 in advance or $7 at the door for general seating and $10 for VIP tickets anytime. Tickets will be on sale downstairs in the Student Center April 18-22 from 9am-3pm or you can purchase tickets online under the store tab.

SympVibes Valentine’s Day Concert

On February 17th, SympVibes hosted a Valentine’s Day Concert for a charity TBD.  All sorority members in attendance had their admission returned to them for their various philanthropy projects, and SympVibes agreed to match the philanthropy contribution for the sorority with the best attendance.  After reviewing the sign-up sheets, pooling the total admissions (some people were not from sororities), and rounding up, here are the final totals:

Phi Mu: $200 donated to the Children’s Miracle Network (Nice Job Girls!)

AOE: $50 donated to Dress for Success

AXO: $25 donated to the Alpha Chi Foundation

Alpha Phi: $25 donated to the Alpha Phi Foundation

ZTA: $25 donated to the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation

AZD: $50 donated to Autism Speaks

AGD: $50 donated to the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation

Thanks to everyone for making this a successful event!  We hope to see you all (and more) at our end of semester concerts, which will be Friday, April 22, and Saturday, April 23.  Mark your calenders!

SympVibes Spring auditions coming soon!

SympVibes Spring auditions coming soon!

We will be holding spring auditions for Sympathetic Vibrations, Georgia Tech’s premiere all male a cappella group on Tuesday, January 25th and Wednesday, January 26th from 7-9pm.  Our group has had a lot of turnover since the end of last semester, and we are looking for a lot of new, young blood.  Even if you auditioned before and didn’t make it, I would strongly encourage re-auditioning, especially if you made it to Fall callbacks.

The Tuesday auditions will be held in Student Center room 332.  The Wednesday auditions will be held in the Cypress Room in the Student Center.  Thursday will be callbacks.

To reserve an audition time, follow the link below (or copy paste it into your browser).  If you have conflicts with all of the available audition times, please contact me by e-mail (mlevine3@gatech.edu) and I will try to expand the audition time options.  All you need to prepare is a verse and a chorus of a song, preferably one that demonstrates what range you are comfortable singing in.

SympVibes with Dave Barnes!

It happened. SympVibes sang with Dave Barnes during his Atlanta show last night. Thanks to Dave for making this happen!

SympVibes in the News!

SympVibes’ original song, Left Turn Only (OH NO!), was picked up by 11Alive News in Atlanta and has been playing off and on all day! Matt LeVine wrote the song about how much he hates Atlanta traffic. For the story, check out the 11Alive website. Listen to a clip of the song below and while you’re at it, you might as well buy the CD in the store!

Riding in the fast lane
Trying to be on time,
I run into crosstown traffic
and behind an endless line
I duck through a one-way alley but it
takes me to a place I don’t know

(Chorus)
Left Turn Only, OH NO!
That’s not the way I wanna go
Just went out for a quick drive
Now I’m stuck on I-85
Bumper-to-bumper so slow
I may not ever arrive!

(Spoken: And now a ride down Piedmont Drive…)
Pothole, pothole, pothole, metal plank
pothole, pothole, pothole, metal plank
Construction workers blocking this lane
pothole, pothole, pothole, metal plank
Seven workers standing ’round,
watching one guy work all alone

(Chorus)
Left Turn Only, OH NO!
Construction’s blocking this road
Exits closed off on both sides
All the way up I-75
This flagger won’t let me go
Forward motion denied!

(Bridge)
The traffic lights are poorly timed, the roads are poorly lit
and no one knows how four way stop signs work

(Spoken: Now let me get this straight…)
So West Peachtree and Peachtree Street merge into Peachtree Road Northwest
Crossing Peachtree Park and Peachtree Battle
Peachtree Ave, Peachtree Hills, Peachtree Way
With 71 streets named Peachtree how the
hell will I ever find my way home?

(Chorus)
Left Turn Only, OH NO!
I don’t know which way to go
Peachtree Roads left and right
Now I’m circling 285
Who designed these roads I don’t know
I wish those Peachtrees would DIE!
